“I have had more difficulties to project myself into this character than, for instance, in the brothers Dardenne’s films (Le fils, Lorna’s Silence). The problem here for me was that it took very long. There was a lot of rehearsing, and the more I rehearse, the more difficult it becomes for me to project myself into a character. But that is how it is; you need to rehearse to check camera positions, to check the light and everything. There are shots in this film which take more than 4 minutes, and that is entirely new to me. With the Dardennes it was different: less rehearsals, more shots and more variety.”
